Weekend Walks & Irrational Pumpkin Fears

This weekend, Nurse A and I found ourselves almost entirely free. He's been working on his thesis nonstop for the past coupe of months, and while I had a little bit of work to do on Sunday, we got to enjoy a low-key Saturday together. What did we do? Well, a slim wallet and overactive puppy = walks. Lots of walks and lots of playtime outside. And the weather was perfect for such a thing.

Playing in the yard.
We walked all over downtown. On Saturday, Sawyer met a puppy in a pumpkin costume. He played with the pup, while her owner (and about a few other women, children and men) watched television outside and proceeded to move couches and chairs into the front yard. The weather was that nice. And I think they were really drunk, because they invited us to drink beer and watch football, which was nice, but we passed on it. And on Sunday, a girl offered us cookies leftover from her study group during our walk. Ah, the South. But I really think people just want to give us things because Sawyer is so cute.

We finally took our trip to the pumpkin patch Saturday afternoon. I had hoped to go last weekend, but we slept late, and Andrew had lots of thesis-ing to do. So we walked over to the patch with Sawyer in tow, with big dreams of a photoshoot. Turns out, Sawyer is terrified of pumpkins. Who knew? He wouldn't even set paw into the patch (which is actually just lots of pumpkins in front of a church), and the few shots we got, we had to hold him. But they were cute pictures, regardless.

Regal Sawyer.
We attempted to take a family picture, but it was quite hard with a 30 + pound puppy.

Notice the difference in Sawyer's expressions in these two pictures.
We didn't buy our pumpkins then, because we didn't want to carry them back to the house on foot, so Andrew and I went back Sunday and ended up getting three pumpkins for $8!

And just for good measure, here's a picture of a gorgeous tree.

The rest of our weekend was filled with Netflix and food. More to come on the food later--we made some really delicious things, which is odd, since we usually don't have much luck in the kitchen. But we were on a roll, what can I say? We even used yeast!

Hope everyone had a great weekend filled with beautiful fall weather (even though it is supposed to be in the 80s here today...) and pumpkins! And don't forget to check out Mingle Monday over at Life of Meg, to find some fun new blogs to take the edge off of the Monday blues.

  3. I love fall. I also had a really laid-back weekend. Oyster fest. Got rid of the extra mattress. No hangovers!

I can't wait to hear about your yeast adventures. Last time I tried ... I failed. And the time before that I think I did, too.
